Parafos®

Water and System Health

We are dedicated to safe water for people, potable water systems and the environment. Even pretreated municipal water can cause issues. Mineral/calcium buildup and corrosion from oxygenation degrades water quality and causes system inefficiency. Addressing water quality starts with clean plumbing and ends with a healthy planet.

Pinhole Problems

The strata in a fifteen year old apartment building experienced ongoing issues with pinhole leaks in the copper pipes found in their potable water system. They repaired the damaged section pipes on a regular basis but needed a more permanent solution. The strata looked into re-piping the whole building but with the two million dollar price tag, the strata looked for other options.

Treatment to Prevent Re-Pipe

The strata opted for Parafos®treatment at a fraction of the price of re-piping the building. The Parafos® feed system was installed and a low dosage of treatment was added to the water flow. The additive forms a mono-molecular film on the inside of the pipes to protect against corrosion. The protective film remains as long as a low dosage of Parafos® is continually fed into the water.

Satisfied Strata

After the first month of treatment, pinhole leaks slowed down and eventually stopped all together. The strata was relieved to have saved millions  of dollars by protecting their system with Parafos®

What is Parafos®?

Parafos® is an additive for potable water systems that prevents mineral/calcium buildup and pipe corrosion. Parafos® sequesters minerals like calcium and magnesium ions, keeping minerals in suspension. It dissolves existing scale and iron deposits resulting in more efficient flow and improved energy efficiency.

Forming a microscopic layer on all pipe types, Parafos® protects internal surfaces and prevents scale buildup or soft water corrosion responsible for pinhole leaks.

Increase Efficiency by Eliminating Scale

Scale buildup from hard water insulates the heat transfer surfaces in hot water tanks and the distribution systems reduces heat transfer and increasing energy consumption and emissions by 5-25%.

Improve System Health By Stopping Corrosion

Dissolved oxygen in the water supply accelerate corrosion causing pinhole leaks and leaching of lead and copper into drinking water systems. The costs associated with repairing, replacing or re-piping plumbing systems are significantly higher than the minimal cost of Parafos® treatment.

Reduce Staining By Preventing Oxidation

Parafos® combines with metals to form a compound that slows down and prevents oxidation from occurring, reducing red and black staining in sinks, toilets and other fixtures.

Certified Safe For All Systems

Tested and certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to meet international standards for public health protection in food safety. Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) approved for use in food production facilities.
